Autumn 2012 Paula Hitz and family - I have spent many happy holidays, over the years, at Pine Tree with my family. We return year after year to the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. Waking up at Pine Tree with the morning sun streaming through the bedroom window is my idea of heaven and then lying there listening to and watching the birds through the large french windows that open onto the patio. On one occasion we were even lucky enough to spot two deer grazing very close to the house as we lay in our bed. Pine Tree is well equipped and very spacious, with lots for the children to do. My children love to go exploring and just wandering around outside. It is lovely for my elderly parents too, the house is easily accessible and they love walking in at out and watching life around them. There is plenty to do around Devizes. A trip to the Caen Hill Locks to watch the canal boats and have a delicious cream tea is a must. We have visited Wookey Hole Caves, Longleat, Bournemouth, the Butterfly Farm, and taken a trip down the canal from the marina in Devizes. Many afternoons have been spent playing football and eating picnics in the nearby fields. The evenings are so peaceful and we love sitting outside having a barbeque and listening to the peaceful sounds of nature. I would recommend Pine Tree to anyone who is looking for a relaxing time far away from city life.
October 2012 Joanne Drakes - I have stayed at Pine Tree for a number of years. The house is set in the midst of a beautiful wood which has a stream flowing through it. I have stayed with my family with ten people very comfortably. There is more than enough hot water and the views from the bedrooms are very special. The large windows make you feel like you are living amongst the trees and the peaceful and quiet atmosphere there is most healing and rejuvenating. October 2013 - the Maynard Family - Had a wonderful weekend with a family group of 18. House was perfect for a large group, plenty of room and had everything you need. June 2013 - Fantastic way to spend a 40th with the family. The views, peace and air were lovely. What a ovely place. Thanks for letting us use it. August 2013 - A lovely house and garden and a brilliant get away for a week. We made several long walks with our dog. Olivers Mount is a must for a fantastic view of Wiltshire (turn left at the phone box and carry on to the top). The 13 locks along the canal in Devizes was lovely on a hot day and the Blackhorse was a lovely pub with a canal side view (try a pint of Swordfish). Marlborough also contains some brilliant boutique homeware shops as well as discount make up shops. Pollys tea room makes a great cream tea as well. Marlborough was also a lovely town center with beautiful shops. Also had some great pubs; the Wellington Arms and the Green Dragon. Salisbury was also a great day out. Best to park in Sainsbury's and walk up to the Cathedral. One the way you pass a sausage shop - 80 varieties - unfortunately they had sold out of beef and marmite. The cathedral was beautiful and is free to look around. Just outside of Salisbury is Old Sarum, a castle ruins. Its good fun to run around and also dog friendly. The Stones of Avebury is a must. A little like StoneHenge but more spread out and you can touch them as well. Nice pub (the Red Lion) and cafe for a refill. Also in Devizes is the Wadworth Brewery Tour (book online and worth the price) Tour of the brewery including shire horses. Sign painting then a tasting session at the end. Further a field is Longleat, a brilliant day out although slightly pricey. Able to feed giraffes-deer-seals-birds and you are also able to stroke penguins and stingray. A lot of fun for children and adults. Bath way a good day out. The Roman baths are worth a visit as well as the Abbey (they are next to each other). Also good for shopping around. The oldest pub in Bath - the Saracens Head- and the smallest - Coer De Lion - both worth a visit if you are a pub fan. Also had a fantastic time around the house. Was able to see deer out in the garden around the house. Was also enough room for all of us to sleep comfortably. Overall is was a good week break away. Enjoy. August 2013 - I love the house, its huge but its as hot as an oven. I love all the windows and great for hide and seek. August 2013 Craig Family - We greatly enjoyed the walks from the house.
